The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather forcast and risk assessment through June 12, warning that most parts of Pakistan are expected to remain under the influence of intense heat, while rainfall and strong winds are likely in several northern and upper regions later this week.
According to the NDMA, temperatures are expected to rise further in Sindh, southern Punjab and Balochistan, with severe heat conditions likely to persist over the coming days.
Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad and northern Punjab are also expected to experience extreme heat on June 10.
The authority said temperatures in central and southern districts of Punjab could remain significantly above normal levels, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses and placing additional pressure on water and power resources.
However, a change in weather is expected on June 11 and 12, when rain and strong winds are likely in parts of Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northern Punjab.
Areas expected to receive rainfall include Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Lahore.
In Sindh, hot and dry weather is forecast to continue in most districts, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas and Tharparkar.
Meanwhile, northeastern districts of Balochistan, including Zhob and Musakhel, may receive light thundershowers on June 11 and 12.
The NDMA has advised the public to take precautionary measures against extreme heat and stay updated on weather advisories, particularly in areas vulnerable to high temperatures and changing weather conditions.
