A dacoit was killed while his two injured accomplices managed to escape from the crime scene in a police encounter in Shikarpur, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shikarpur Shahzeb Chachar, three robbers were standing on the Gharial Pir Link Road in the Gahija police station area with the intention of committing an offence.
SSP Shahzeb Chachar said the robbers opened fire on seeing the patrolling police, and as a result of the two-way firing, one robber was killed while the other accomplices escaped while taking advantage of the darkness while injured.
The police encounter was led by DSP Garhi Yasin Zahor Ahmed Soomro, SHO Gahija police station, along with his staff.
The body of the dead robber has been shifted to the hospital for a post-mortem.
The process of identifying the dead robber with the help of the search device is underway.

A blockade has been set up in the area to arrest the absconding accused, and a search operation is underway.
Meanwhile, four suspects, including two robbers, were arrested during a police operation against robbers in various areas of Khairpur, and 19 motorcycles, cash, and weapons were recovered.
According to police, the recovered motorcycles, snatched from citizens, have been handed over to their original owners.
The arrested suspects told the police during interrogation that they used to snatch motorcycles from the limits of different police stations. A case has been registered against the arrested suspects.
Further, during an operation against dacoits, two notorious dacoits, Hussu Banglani and Wadar Nandwani, were injured as a result of two-way firing in Tangwani.
According to police, an operation is being carried out against the Kokari gang, and an exchange of fire with robbers is continuing.
