India's victory in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final not only secured another ICC title for the team but also etched head coach Gautam Gambhir’s name into the history books.
With this triumph, Gambhir became only the fifth individual in cricket history to have won the prestigious tournament both as a player and as a coach.
Under Gambhir’s guidance, India defeated New Zealand by four wickets in the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, successfully chasing down the 252-run target in 49 overs.
Gambhir, who was a key member of India's 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup-winning squads, was also part of the Indian team that lifted the Champions Trophy in 2013.
Now, as head coach, he has added another major title to his resume, becoming one of the few to achieve this rare feat.
Before Gambhir, only four other cricketing greats had accomplished this milestone—his former teammate Rahul Dravid, Australia's Darren Lehmann and Geoff Marsh, as well as South Africa’s Gary Kirsten.
