Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has strongly responded to Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar, who recently claimed that even India’s B team could pose a tough challenge for Pakistan in the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.

Gavaskar’s comments, made during an interview, suggested that Pakistan’s current squad lacks the strength to compete at the highest level.

“I think even India’s B team would give Pakistan a tough challenge. It would be very hard for Pakistan’s current team to beat them,” Gavaskar stated.

The remarks did not sit well with Inzamam, who warned the veteran cricketer to be more mindful of his words.

“Gavaskar sahab should check the stats. He is a senior, and we respect him. But when talking about another country, one should be careful. You can praise your own team, but dismissing another team like this isn’t right. Please be careful with your words, I am saying this in a slightly harsh tone,” Inzamam responded.

Gavaskar had also criticized Pakistan’s batting approach, stating that the team showed a lack of urgency against Indian spinners.

“Mohammad Rizwan hit the first ball of his innings for a four, and I thought we were in for something different. However, the batters soon started blocking deliveries instead of rotating the strike,” Gavaskar said.

He further pointed out Pakistan’s failure to build a strong bench, despite having talented players and a competitive Pakistan Super League (PSL).

“Pakistan has talented players, but they haven’t been able to develop a strong backup. It’s surprising that they have struggled to produce batters like Inzamam-ul-Haq despite having PSL,” he added.
