Jeddah to host Russia-Ukraine ceasefire talks next week

In a significant diplomatic development, ceasefire talks between Russia and Ukraine are expected to take place in Jeddah next week, with Saudi Arabia once again stepping in to mediate.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to meet Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Monday, signaling renewed efforts for peace.

According to a statement from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the kingdom has facilitated multiple rounds of negotiations over the past three years and remains committed to promoting stability and dialogue. 

Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan emphasized that Riyadh is determined to push forward the peace process.

President Zelensky reiterated Ukraine’s willingness to engage in constructive dialogue with the United States and expressed hope that the upcoming discussions will lead to critical decisions and necessary actions. 

He also stated that Ukraine has been seeking peace since the beginning of the war.

With global attention fixed on Jeddah, the upcoming talks could prove to be a turning point in the prolonged Russia-Ukraine conflict.
