Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Mussarat Jamshed Cheema has called on the country’s rulers to conduct an impartial survey to gauge public opinion, asserting that the truth will expose their declining popularity.
She emphasized that despite enduring prison hardships, PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi remain steadfast, inspiring resilience among party workers.
In a statement, Mussarat Cheema criticized the government, stating that its performance is marked only by rhetoric and political gimmicks, with no concrete projects that have positively impacted the lives of the people. “No one even knows who is receiving Ramadan assistance,” she remarked, highlighting the opacity of relief programs.
She also took aim at the government’s handling of inflation, pointing out that despite claims of price control, essential commodities remain out of reach for the common citizen. “After the Prime Minister took notice of the sugar crisis, the price of sugar in the open market jumped to Rs 180 per kg, with an additional Rs 10 hike,” she revealed. With no effective price control mechanisms, the prices of vegetables and fruits are skyrocketing, further burdening citizens during Ramadan.
Mussarat Cheema noted that in government-run markets, people are forced to stand in long queues to purchase a mere two kilograms of sugar, and only after presenting their identity cards. “This is the reality under the so-called experienced rulers—the country is regressing rather than progressing,” she asserted.
She accused the government of misleading the public by painting an unrealistic picture of the situation. “To deceive the nation, they are rolling out fabricated reports of economic stability, but the ground reality tells a different story,” she concluded.
