On the call given by Kandhkot Press Club, people belonging to different political parties held a protest demonstration on Sunday against the building of canals on the River Indus, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Press Club President Liaquat Khoso led the protestors.
Speaking on the occasion, Khoso said that the building of canals on the river was an enmity towards Sindh. “It amounts to robbing the province of its share in water,” he said, and added, “If that is allowed to happen, it may lead to a Bangladesh-like debacle.”
Akram Bajkani said that 60 million people in the province had stood up against the canals.
Ghulam Mustafa Meerani said people belonging to different segments of the society were now registering their protest.
The protestors threatened that if the project was not stopped, they would be left with no option but to expand their protests.
