The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) issued a comprehensive market study report about Pakistan’s civil aviation sector, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
According to details, the report stated that structural reforms in Pakistan's aviation sector were deemed inevitable.
The report further stated that Pakistan's aviation industry has served 340 million passengers in the last two decades, and the number of annual air passengers increased from 12.8 million to 24.3 million.
The CCP asked the Civil Aviation Authority to introduce a roadmap for reforms in the civil aviation sector. The CCP suggested low-budget airlines, local MRO, and SME for the reforms.
The CCP recommended to install latest technology at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, and Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, and also increasing facilities at Gilgit and Skardu airports
The CCP should ensure competitive neutrality, and free entry into the market should be ensured.
