The Higher Education Commission (HEC) announced to hold the National Skill Competency Test in April and urged universities to ensure registration of their advanced-level computing students in the Test, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
The Higher Education Commission said this Test is aimed at aligning academic outcomes with the rapidly evolving demands of the global technology sector.
The successful students will be issued certificates by HEC, Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), and Pakistan Software Houses Association (Pasha) in addition to their inclusion in the national talent pool.
It said that the qualifying students will receive one academic credit from their respective institutions and will gain prioritized access to internships, apprenticeships, and international certification pathways.
The HEC warned that those universities that fail to register will face a decrease in rankings.
The students of the 7th and 8th semesters will be eligible to appear in the Test.
