A group of volunteer Pakistani hackers has reportedly launched a cyber offensive dubbed “Operation Salar” in response to what they describe as “ongoing Indian cyber terrorism and anti-Pakistan digital propaganda.”
According to sources familiar with the campaign, the hackers claim to have breached and defaced four major Indian websites, pasting the Pakistani national flag on their homepages and allegedly extracting sensitive data. The move is being framed as a direct counter to Indian cyber intrusions and hostile content, particularly those targeting Pakistan and the Kashmiri people.
“This is a response, not a provocation,” read a statement issued by the group. “We are a peaceful nation, but if our sovereignty or dignity is challenged, we won’t remain silent. Operation Salar is a warning — not the conclusion.”
The hackers accused India of engaging in digital warfare, spreading disinformation, and targeting Pakistan’s cyber infrastructure. They described their campaign as a ‘cyber knockout’ and the beginning of a broader digital resistance.
The term “terrorist India” was repeatedly used in their communications.
The campaign has quickly caught fire on social media under the hashtag #OperationSalar, with users hailing it as a "symbolic digital retaliation". Some are urging the hackers to expand the operation further, suggesting targets like Indian media outlets, financial systems, and even defense networks.
