In an important decision, which has been described as a judicial precedent, the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday declared the appointment of a healthy person as an assistant education officer on the quota reserved for differently-abled persons illegal, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a 10-page decision on the petition filed by Iftikhar Ahmad, Justice Raheel Kamran Sheikh said that such appointments were a usurpation of the rights of differently-abled persons.
“Implementation on the quota reserved for special people in government jobs should be ensured at all costs.”
The judge noted that Muhammad Yar was not eligible for the post after he was declared healthy by the Department of Social Welfare.
The court also ordered the concerned officials to fill the vacancy within 60 days as per rules and regulations.
