Asad Qaiser says constitution being bulldozed with 27th amendment
PTI MNA Asad Qaiser has said that with proposed 27th amendments the constitution was being bulldozed in the country, reported 24NewsHDTV Channel.
In a press statement in Swabi, Asad Qaiser said the way this legislation was being made in a hurry. He said there was no precedent in the world for such legislation. PTI MNA said when the 1973 constitution was being passed, the PPP had a two-thirds majority and the opposition had very few members. He said Zulfikar Ali Bhutto brought the small opposition together and a consensus document was created.
Asad Qaiser said 1973 Constitution was a great gift to Pakistan by PPP. He said now law was being made by force and coercion. He said such amendments which has no public backing hurts country. Asad Qaiser said PPP takes credit for the 1973 Constitution and the 18th Amendment and has now become a facilitator in this constitutional amendment. If the 1973 Constitution is sabotaged, the entire responsibility will fall on the PPP.
Asad Qaiser said the balance of power was being unilaterally shifted and the judiciary was being completely paralyzed. He said the judiciary has been paralyzed to a great extent under 26th Constitutional Amendment. After the 27th Amendment, when the government transfers judges, how will they make decisions according to justice?
PTI MNA said 27th Constitutional Amendment was a conspiracy against the country, adding that Opposition will raise voice against this conspiracy. Asad Qaiser said PTI will register a symbolic protest against the 27th Constitutional Amendment tonight at 8:30pm.
PTI leader urged public to register token protest wherever possible, people should register their protest against it so that the whole world knows that this amendment does not have any support from the Pakistani nation. Asad Qaiser urged the nation to come together for the survival of democracy, raise voices against the illegal imprisonment of Imran Khan and other leadership.
