The inside story of the meeting of the Standing Committee on Law and Justice has come to light, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
In the meeting, Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar told the committee members that the proposal to set up a constitutional court had been criticized the most. “Each and every clause has been explained in detail,” he said and added that the constitutional court would relieve the Supreme Court of pressure as it would clear the case backlog to a great extent.
He said that the way the war between India and Pakistan had been led was in front of everyone.
The minister said that the post of the army chief would be for five years while the honorary post will be for life.
“A proposal has been made to give two per cent representation to smaller provinces in the federal cabinet,” he informed.
He suggested increasing the representation of the people of Balochistan in both houses of parliament, National Assembly and Senate, in view of the province’s vastness and ethnic diversity.
Tarar said that after leaving the presidency, there will be an honorary post for life, provided that he does not take up any official post again.
Here it happens that when the president reaches home after completing his term, summons start coming, Law Minister said.
