Strongly reacting to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Sohail Afridi’s statement, Mufti Tayyab Qureshi said on Sunday that the chief minister’s statement about mosques and the Pakistan Army was inappropriate, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a statement, he said that the country’s security forces had given innumerable sacrifices for peace and security in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). “There was a time when mosques in the province were attacked on a daily basis. And these were our security forces, which fought against those terrorists,” he said, and added that the truth of the matter was that the army and police defended the mosques.
Mufti went on to say that Pakistan, especially KP, needed unity the most. “It is only when all stakeholders will show unity that the country’s economy and defence will get stronger,” he opined.
Mufti said that after the defeat of India at the hands of Pakistan in operation Bunyanun Marsoos, the country’s enemies were attacking it from all sides. “It is only through unity in our ranks that we can defend the country, including KP,” he asserted.
