A tour guide in Indonesia had a terrifying near-death encounter with a giant python that coiled around his body and dragged him underwater, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.
According to reports, the six-metre-long python attacked the guide, identified only as Hero, a local snake expert, while he was leading a boat tour with tourists on Borneo Island.
During the trip, passengers on the boat spotted the python resting near the riverbank. Hero leaned over the edge of the boat, attempting to grab the snake by its head. However, the situation took a dramatic turn when the massive reptile lunged at him, pulling him into the river.
Once in the water, the python wrapped itself tightly around Hero’s body and began dragging him beneath the surface. Witnesses said the crew immediately jumped into the water to save him.
It took two rescuers immense effort to free Hero — one grabbed the snake’s head while the other held its tail — eventually managing to release him from its deadly grip. Miraculously, Hero escaped without any injuries.
After the rescue, the crew captured the python, took photographs with it on the boat, and later released it back into the wild.
Experts noted that pythons are non-venomous but kill their prey by constriction, suffocating them before swallowing them whole.
