Three persons including a woman and her two sons were shot dead by armed men who barged into a house and opened fire in Tatlay Aali, a village in the suburbs of Gujranwala, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
The father sustained injuries in the incident. On information, a large contingent of police reached the crime scene and started collecting evidence.
The police also took the bodies into custody and shifted the injured to a hospital for treatment.
Old enmity seems to be the reason behind the incident, police said.
Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Usman Anwar took notice of the incident and sought a report from the Gujranwala regional police officer (RPO).
He also ordered the Gujranwala city police officer (CPO) to form a special team and ensure swift action against the accused.
