Pakistani universities fail to rank in world top 400 list

According to Times Higher Education Rankings, Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad is among 401 to 500 categories, NUST and UMT Lahore in 1000-1200 positions

Times Higher Education Rankings has issued World University Rankings 2026 on Thursday. 2,191 universities have been ranked from 115 countries around the world. Pakistani universities have failed to rank in world top 400 list. 

Times Higher Education Rankings ranked 99 Pakistani universities in its list. 48 Pakistani universities received regular ranks, 51 received “reputer” status. Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad has been ranked in 401 to 500 categories. 

COMSATS University Islamabad, Air University, NUST, Bahauddin Zakaria University rank 600 to 800 in international rankings. 

NUST and UMT Lahore made it to the 1000-1200 international ranks. The ranking includes 2,191 universities from 115 countries. No Pakistani university is included in the top 400 list. 

According to Times Higher Education Rankings, University of Oxford bags top first position, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, US comes second, Princeton University of United States third, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom fourth, Harvard University, US gets top fifth place, Stanford University, US is on sixth, California Institute of Technology, US on seventh, Imperial College London on eights, University of California, Berkeley bag top 9th and Yale University of United States gets top tenth position.
