The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday declared a petition non-maintainable, in which it was requested that the pilgrims stuck in Iran should be brought back to the country.

Hearing the petition filed by Majlis-e-Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah asked the petitioner to trust the government and observed that the entire world had been affected by the coronavirus.

He remarked that there were the Executive and the Parliament in the country, and that the petitioner should consult the relevant forum without deriving a result that the government was not doing anything.

The chief justice noted that the problem was of international nature and the court could not interfere in the matters of that nature.

Asking the petitioner’s counsel whether they had contacted the Foreign Office, he said the matter pertained to the Foreign Office and the Parliament.

On occasion, the lawyer said an impression was being given media that all the problems were because of the coronavirus.

However, the IHC observed that the court would not jump into any controversy and the declared that the petition not maintainable.
