Amid the rising threat of more locust attack on the crops during the current month, Sindh on Wednesday demanded the federal government to immediately conduct aerial spray.

In this connection, Sindh Agriculture Minister Ismail Rahu said the incompetence and laziness shown by the Centre had threatened the agriculture sector in the entire country.

He warned that any further delay in aerial and ground spray would result in paying a very high cost.

According to 24NewsHD, Rahu said the Centre must provide planes for the purpose, ruing the fact that there was no national action plan to tackle the locusts.

He said that Tharparkar, Sanghar, Umerkot, Nawabshah [Shaheed Benazirabad], Khairpur, Sukkur and Ghotki were badly affected by the locust.

Asking the Federal Plant Protection Department to wake up, Rahu said that the summer season of locusts had begun and not only Sindh but also a large chunk of south Punjab and Balochistan was full of locusts and their eggs.
