Religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel has refuted claims being made on social media platforms that a Lexus car with the number plate ‘MTJ’ belonged to him.

In a tweet on his official Twitter account, Tariq Jameel said, “A picture is being spread on social media attributed to me when in fact I have nothing to do with it and it is completely baseless. May Allah guide us all to the truth and keep us safe from spreading lies.”

Maulana Tariq Jamil is a member of the Tablighi Jamaat. This year, the president of Pakistan awarded him the Pride of Performance, a national literary award presented annually.

The fake news was heavily shared on social networking websites criticising Maulana Tariq Jameel for a wide gap between what he preached and what he practised. But now the Maulana has refuted the claims.
