Singer Meesha Shafi has expressed her wish for peace with singer-actor Ali Zafar on Twitter.

In reply to a tweet by a user @roxmiaen proposing reconciliation between the two singers, Meesha said “many have tried to mediate. I am all for peace.”

The Aaya Laariye singer claimed that “there certainly has been a lot of abuse. And it isn’t healthy at all. I’ve done nothing since speaking up though. Other than defending myself against the weaponization of the defamation laws.”

A Twitter user requested Azam Jamil to mediate (between Meesha and Ali Zafar).

Neither Ali Zafar nor any member of his team responded to this proposal. However, Meesha Shafi promptly responded and expressed her desire for peace with Ali Zafar.

Meesha Shafi is currently in Canada and due to appear in a defamation suit filed by Ali Zafar. Her mother Saba Hameed in an interview said Meesha could not come to Pakistan due to a big lockdown in Canada.

However, a news report suggests that there have been no travel restrictions; you can travel from Canada to Pakistan with a negative COVID test and people are coming and going to Canada at will.

On March 27, 2021, a judicial magistrate gave one more opportunity to singer Meesha Shafi to attend proceedings of a criminal case registered under the cybercrime law against the singer on the complaint of actor-cum-singer Ali Zafar.

Meesha is also yet to appear for a cross-examination in rupees one billion defamation suit filed against her by Ali Zafar. A court was requested to permit cross-examination of singer Meesha Shafi and her husband through a video link from Canada.

In an interview given to a web portal in late 2019, Ali Zafar had also spoken about how he and his team were approached for settlement and apologies.
