All candidates associated with the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have withdrawn from the by-election in Karachi’s NA-249 constituency in favour of the party-backed candidate Amjad Iqbal Afridi.

According to sources, Sindh Assembly Member Malik Shahzad Awan on Thursday held a meeting with Sindh Governor Imran Ismail at Governor’s House and the two sides sorted out their differences over nomination of Amjad Afridi as PTI candidate in the NA-249 constituency in Karachi. On this occasion, Malik thanked Prime Minister Imran Khan for addressing his grievances. Malik is one of the influential PTI leaders in the constituency who had been vocal against Amjad Afridi's nomination as party candidate in the NA-249 constituency over the last few weeks. 24NewsHD TV had run this news story well before time, on Wednesday evening.
