Heavy fog shuts down motorways M2, M3; M4 and M5 reopen for traffic

Heavy fog blanketed Pakistan’s plain areas shutting down a number of motorways and disrupting the normal flow of traffic on highways on Wednesday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Motorway M2 between Lahore and Sheikhupura, Multan-to-Khanewal Motorway and Motorway M3 from Faizpur to Samundri have been closed down for traffic as the visibility dropped to very low due to the thick fog.

The flow of traffic on highways has also been disturbed by the heavy fog.

Later, as the situation improved and the fog lifted, Motorways 4 and 5 were reopened for traffic.

Traffic was barred from entering Motorway 2 from Kot Momin to Thokar Niaz Beg whereas entry of traffic was also banned from Thokar Niaz Beg to Hiran Minar for onwards journey to Islamabad.
