The federal government has banned the naming of housing societies after the public institutes within the limits of Islamabad, 24News HD TV Channel reported on Saturday.
The Chief Commissioner's Office has issued a formal memorandum in this regard and alerted the societies’ owners that naming of societies in the name of government institutions will not be allowed.
The federal government has banned the naming of housing societies after government agencies in view of the unusually growing trend of creating housing societies in the name of government entities.
Islamabad Chief Commissioner and Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Amir Ali Ahmed have said that the housing societies using the names of government entities will have to change their names.
According to CDA officials, it has been asked to the Registrar of Societies to give the notice to change the name of the societies within the next three weeks.
The officials said that all societies that are named after government agencies should change their name because Islamabad High Court has already issued instructions in this regard.
