Tourist loses eye as police lathi-charge New Year crowd in Murree

The tourists who gathered on Mall Road in Murree to celebrate New Year faced police baton charge in which several sightseers got injured and an ill-fated tourist lost his eyesight due to police violence, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

A video clip surfaced on social media in which it could be seen that police start beating up tourists with sticks who were gathered on Mall Road in Murree to greet New Year. The police attack triggered a stampede amongst them. 

Many sightseers got hurt by the police baton charge. Most unfortunately, a tourist lost his eyesight during the police’s highhandedness. Many lost their valuables when police used force to disperse them. Police also arrested many tourists. 

The sightseers complained about the highhandedness of police and flayed the treatment meted out to them by the Murree administration. They were of the view that they just gathered to celebrate New Year eve on Mall Road.
