China has opposed India's plan of holding the G-20 meeting in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and called on the members of the grouping to focus on economic recovery and avoid politicizing the relevant issue, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian during his regular briefing in Beijing said that China’s position on Kashmir is consistent and clear cut. 

“It is a legacy issue between India and Pakistan and it should be properly resolved in accordance with the relevant United Nations (UN) resolutions and bilateral agreement. Relevant parties should avoid complicating the situation with the unilateral move,” he added.

Pakistan has already completely rejected India’s attempt to hold the G-20 meeting in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, reiterating that the region is under New Delhi’s forcible and illegal occupation.

Pakistan wants China, Turkey and Saudi Arabia to boycott G20 meet

Pakistan has launched a diplomatic offensive and is now reaching out to its close allies - China, Turkey and Saudi Arabia to boycott the G-20 meeting.

After rejecting India's move, Pakistan will reach out to all G-20 countries and particularly China, Turkey and Saudi Arabia to convey its concerns. It would also speak to the US, the UK and other G-20 members to counter Indian plans.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, India will hold the G-20 presidency from December 1, 2022, and convene the first G-20 leaders' summit in 2023. India's representation at G-20 summits has been led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi since 2014.

The G-20 countries include Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Recently in March, India hosted an investment conference from Gulf countries in J&K. Entrepreneurs and CEOs from different countries including Dubai, UAE, and Holland were present at the summit. Delegates from over 36 countries attended the event.
