The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has filed a petition in the Supreme Court pleading it to direct the federal and Punjab governments to allow the party to hold its long march on Islamabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The petition also beseeched the apex court to stop both the federal and Punjab governments from arresting the PTI activists during their protest march.

It also requested the top court to ask both the governments not to place hurdles and obstacles on the marchers’ routes, besides directing them to refrain from using force and subjecting party supporters to torture.

Asad Qaiser files appeal in IHC

Former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser Wednesday filed an appeal in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to avoid arrest, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Asad Qaiser, in his appeal, requested that a list of cases that were registered against him across the country should be provided to him.

He requested the court to stop his arrest until the list of cases was received.

He maintained that he had participated in the long march on the call of former prime minister Imran Khan at which the cases were registered against him.

He stated that as per the reports, police and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) registered cases against him in different areas.

He requested to provide the details of all the cases and inquiries against him, declaring that all the cases registered against him were illegal.

He also pleaded with the court to stop the FIA and police from arresting him.

The interior secretary, Islamabad IG Police, Punjab IG Police, Sindh IG Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IG Police and the FIA director general were made respondents in the petition.

Sheikh Rashid's bail extended

A local court in Islamabad extended the bail of former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed till June 13 in a case pertaining to alleged vandalism of public property amid the PTI long march.

The court issued notices to the Police and sought replies on the next hearing to be held on June 13.

District and Sessions Judge Kamran Basharat Mufti granted bail to Sheikh Rasheed on the surety bonds of Rs5,000.

Qureshi gets bail in six cases

Former foreign minister and PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi's bail has also been approved in six different cases against him pertaining to alleged violence against public properties.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi talking to newsmen at the local court in Islamabad said, “I reject any news of back door negotiations. We believed in violence and nor will be using it in future. We have always respected the Constitution.”

Qureshi said that the incumbent government took to the roads in the PTI era against inflation.

“If they will not fulfill the IMF conditions then Pakistan will go towards default,” he added.

The PTI Vice chairman said that consultations are being held and Imran Khan will soon come to Islamabad.
