PM meets Chaudhry brothers to muster support amid Opp threat

Prime Minister Imran Khan met ex-PM Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhary Parvez Elahi in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The political situation in wake of the opposition plan to bring a no-confidence motion and PPP’s long march came under discussion during the 40-minute meeting.

PML-Q leaders Moonis Elahi, Tariq Bashir Cheema, Salik Hussain, and Shafay Hussain were also present.

The PML-Q leadership appreciated the cut in prices of petroleum products and electricity.

Chaudhry Shujaat urged Prime Minister Imran to take more steps to provide inflation-hit people with more relief and assigned the ministers with duties of visiting bazaars and markets to keep price control check.

Parvez Elahi praised the industrial package and laid stress on taking Punjab on the loop and the premier agreed to do so. 

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and key ministers accompanied the prime minister.

The premier also enquired after Ch Shujaat and wished him good health. The ex-PM expressed his gratitude.

Last month, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif led delegation called upon the Chaudhry brothers in a bid to seek the support of ruling coalition partner.
