An online taxi driver absconded with $13,000 and an American passport belonging to Rohail, a Pakistani-American citizen who had returned to Pakistan for medical treatment.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, Rohail, distraught over the loss, revealed that the cash, amounting to approximately Rs38,00,000, was stored in a bag forgotten in the online taxi he booked from the airport.
Despite desperate attempts to contact the taxi driver, who ignored all calls, Rohail found no solace when he approached the offices of the online taxi company for assistance. The bag, containing not only significant currency but also the American passport, remained untraceable.
Regrettably, local law enforcement from the concerned police station in Karachi displayed no urgency in taking action. Despite filing a report and providing details, no substantial efforts were made to locate the elusive online taxi driver who had vanished with the substantial sum and crucial documents.
