CAA limits int’l flights to 123 from 590

The Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan (CAA) has issued a NOTAM to inform the concerned foreign airlines to limit international flights to 20 percent in the latest step to stop virus intake from other countries, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

 The aviation regulator on Saturday said that Pakistan has reduced the international flights from 590 flights to 123 at all eight international airports.

The CAA has notified all the international airlines about the decision regarding foreign airlines landing in Pakistan’s airports.

The NOTIM (Notices to Airmen) issued by Director Air Transport Irfan Sabir informed the foreign airlines about the NCOC decision reducing the foreign air traffic by 80 percent.

The CAA issued NOTIM on the instructions of the NCOC which is an apex body to make policy-making decisions on coronavirus.

The number of weekly international flights from Karachi has been reduced from 189 to 40, at Islamabad Airport the weekly flights has been reduced from 120 to 25 and The number of international flights has been reduced from 33 to 6 at Peshawar Airport, and at Sialkot and Multan Airports flights have been reduced from 43 to 8 and 41 to 8 respectively.

In Quetta, only two flights per week are allowed against the previous armaments of 10 flights per week.

Pakistan has paced up measures to curb the third wave of deadly coronavirus and significantly reduced the foreign airlines to stem the virus intake. Pakistan has officially confirmed Brazilian and South Africa virus variants reported in the country.
