Punjab IGP’s appointment as UNSG advisor ‘great feat’: Bilawal

Commenting on the appointment of Inspector General of Police (IGP), Punjab Faisal Shahkar as Police Advisor to the United Nations (UN) Secretary General (SG) on Peace Operations, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday said that the elevation of a top cop to such a high position was a matter of great ‘honour’ for the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a tweet, he said that the selection of Shahkar for such a coveted post was the recognition of professionalism of Pakistan’s police force.

Shahkar, who has remained part of several UN missions in the past, has become the first Pakistani to have been appointed on the position.
Hitherto, senior police officials from the European and other western countries have served on the position.
