9th & 10th class exams start in Karachi

The annual examinations for the ninth and tenth classes of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Karachi started, with 3,85,000 candidates appearing for the examinations, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

Strict monitoring system has been established in 521examination centers in the city. The computer subject paper will be held in the morning, while the science subject paper will be held in the afternoon.

Section 144 was imposed on all the adjacent areas of the examination centers. Twenty-five Hub Centers are established in 18 towns of the city. 

Monitoring Cells are established in the Chairman's Matric Board Office and the Commissioner’s Office. Vigilance and external teams are constituted to curb cheating during the examinations.

Board Chairman Ghulam Hussain Soho directed that all examination centres prominently display instructions banning mobile phones and electronic devices. He also warned that any cheating material found would be seized.

Soho said Section 144 would be imposed at all centres in coordination with the Karachi commissioner, DG Rangers, additional IG, Director Education Karachi, Director Private Schools Sindh and other authorities to stop outside interference during the examinations.

He added that photocopy shops located near examination centres would remain closed during exam hours.

Officials have also put in place a secure mechanism for the distribution of question papers. Under the arrangement, board officials will deliver papers to hub centres, from where centre superintendents or their authorized representatives will collect sealed packets and take them to their respective examination centres.
