Bangladesh celebrated the 55th anniversary of its Independence with a reception in Karachi on Friday, 24NewsHD TV reported.
Sindh Governor Nihal Hashmi, along with ministers, ambassadors, high commissioners, consuls general, and Pakistani diplomats, participated in the moot, underscoring growing diplomatic engagement between the two brotherly countries.
Addressing the gathering, Bangladesh’s Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi Saqib Sadaqat welcomed guests and highlighted what he described as a renewed phase in bilateral relations.
“The relationship between Bangladesh and Pakistan is warmer, stronger and deeper in recent times compared to the last decade,” he said, adding that both countries are experiencing one of the most positive periods in their diplomatic ties.
He expressed gratitude to Pakistan’s leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, for supporting efforts to strengthen cooperation and deepen engagement at both governmental and people-to-people levels.
He noted that bilateral trade has increased by around 20% in recent months and expressed optimism about further expanding economic cooperation.
The diplomat also acknowledged the role of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in supporting the Bangladeshi diaspora and diplomatic missions in Islamabad and Karachi.
The ceremony concluded with expressions of goodwill and calls for further strengthening of ties, reflecting a shared commitment to expanding cooperation between the two South Asian nations.
