Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir is on an official visit to the United States, where he has held meetings with American political and military leadership as well as the Pakistani community, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to ISPR, the Army Chief attended the retirement ceremony of US CENTCOM Commander General Michael E. Kurilla and the assumption of command ceremony for CENTCOM’s new leader, Admiral Brad Cooper.
Field Marshal Munir extended best wishes to Admiral Cooper on taking over his new role and praised General Kurilla’s exemplary leadership and contributions toward strengthening bilateral military relations.
He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to continued cooperation in addressing shared security challenges.
During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir also met US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Kane, discussing matters of mutual professional interest and inviting him to visit Pakistan.
According to the Pak Army's media wing, Field Marshal Asim Munir held talks with defence chiefs from friendly countries as well.
In an interactive session with the Pakistani community in the US, Field Marshal Munir encouraged them to maintain confidence in Pakistan’s bright future and to contribute to the country’s prosperity through investment.
The overseas Pakistani community also expressed their determination to play an active role in Pakistan’s progress and well-being.
