The Independence Day “Battle for Truth” Marathon began on Sunday morning from Do Darya, drawing over 1,500 athletes to the city’s scenic coastline.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, organised by the Sports and Youth Affairs Department of Sindh, the event features separate races for men and women, with women running 5 kilometres and men covering 10 kilometres.
The route stretches from the iconic Do Darya to Nishan-e-Pakistan at Seaview.
Prizes include Rs25,000 for first place, Rs20,000 for second, and Rs15,000 for third.
Competitors placing fourth through tenth will also receive cash awards.
Sindh Minister for Sports Sardar Muhammad Bux Mahar Khan, along with other provincial ministers, attended the opening of the event, adding to the celebratory atmosphere of Karachi’s Independence Day festivities.
