The National Assembly was informed on Wednesday that three point nine million beneficiaries have been enrolled nationwide in "Nashonuma Program" over the last five years to deal with the issue of stunting.
Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Syed Imran Ahmad Shah told the House during Question Hour that these included two million children and one point eight million pregnant women.
He said the program has a huge impact on stunting reduction.
According to a study, there has been six point four percent reduction in stunting within children under age of two years and an enormous twenty percent reduction in stunting in children within age range of six months.
The Minister for Poverty Alleviation said the nutrition support program is operationalized in one hundred and fifty-seven districts of the country through five hundred and forty-two facilitation centers.
Minister of State for Climate Change Shezra Mansab Ali Khan Kharal told the House that a short term plan has been formulated for Climate Action.
She said fourteen key interventions, to be implemented over a two hundred and forty-day timeline, will enhance resilience ahead of next year’s monsoon season.
Shezra Mansab Ali said the interventions include designing and piloting monsoon ponds in priority flood prone districts, upgrading flood forecasting and warning systems, establish emergency logistics system and integrate flood control, water management and climate adaptation into provincial plans.
The House has now been prorogued.
