Ubisoft has announced the release of a manga that will serve as a prequel to its highly anticipated game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
The manga is set to launch in Japan on March 20, coinciding with the game's official release. However, the developer has yet to confirm a release date for an English version of the series.
The announcement was made via Ubisoft’s official account on X (formerly Twitter), where the company revealed that the manga will follow the story of a young Assassin apprentice as she battles the increasing influence of the Templars in feudal Japan.
"Assassin’s Creed Shadows will get its manga! Discover the official prequel of the game. Follow the story of a young Assassin apprentice as she fights against the growing presence of the Templars order in Japan.
Available in Japan at the launch of the game and later elsewhere,” the post read.
For those unfamiliar, manga refers to comics created in Japan or by Japanese artists, typically in the Japanese language.
Ubisoft’s venture into manga storytelling expands the Assassin’s Creed franchise beyond video games, offering fans a deeper insight into the world of Assassin’s Creed Shadows before the events of the main game unfold.
