LHC issues notice to IG Punjab seeking explanation on contempt of court petition

Lahore High Court has issued notice to Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab on a contempt of court petition for disobeying court orders, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

The court sought an explanation from IG Punjab Rao Abdul Karim on charges of disobeying the court order.

Justice Shahid Karim issued an order on the petition of citizens Muhammad Atif and Jamshed Iqbal.

The petitioner took a plea that police constables were recruited on August 9, 2024, but the recruitment order was withdrawn on May 21, 2025.

CCPO, IG Police were appealed to police for redress, but no hearing was held and the petitioners approached Lahore High Court for non-redressal of the matter, the petitioners' position.

High Court ordered IG Punjab to decide on the pending petition on October 21, 2025.

IG Punjab has not yet implemented the court order, so contempt of court action should be taken against IG Punjab for violating the order, petitioners took a plea.
