Sindh has approved the abolition of manual checking in matriculation and intermediate examinations across all education boards, replacing it with a fully digital system, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
According to the report, the Board Committee comprising chairmen of all nine education boards in Sindh has approved major reforms in the examination system.
Under the new policy, the traditional methods of manual paper checking and supervision in annual matric and intermediate exams will be phased out.
The decision aims to modernise the examination process and make it more transparent, credible, and reliable.
As part of the reforms, biometric registration will be introduced from Class 9 and Class 11.
Thumb impressions of students will be included in the registration process, and biometric verification will be mandatory for entry into examination centres.
Students’ biometric attendance during examinations has also been made compulsory.
The committee has further approved complete digital marking of answer sheets.
Scanned copies of answer scripts will be checked on computer screens, a move expected to eliminate marking discrepancies and calculation errors.
In addition, the boards have decided to make science practical examinations more effective and structured.
Officials said the implementation of these reforms will begin partially during the current academic year.
