The Sindh government has imposed a complete ban on photography in all government-run girls' colleges across the province, citing concerns over the misuse of students’ images on social media platforms, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
According to the report, the restriction was announced through a formal notification issued by the Sindh College Education Department, which has been circulated to principals of all public girls' colleges.
The directive clearly states that photography within college premises is no longer permitted under any circumstances.
According to the Director of Colleges, individuals found violating the ban may face disciplinary as well as legal action.
The department noted that photographs of female students had been misused on certain social media platforms, an act described as a serious violation of social and religious values as well as existing laws.
The College Education Department had received formal complaints regarding the unauthorised photography and subsequent circulation of students’ images online.
Taking strict notice of the matter, the Special Secretary Education ordered immediate action to curb such practices.
The notification emphasised that all forms of photography-related activities within girls colleges are now strictly prohibited.
It further warned that principals and staff members found responsible for any violation of the directive would be subjected to disciplinary proceedings.
