PM Shehbaz greets Pakistan Navy on successful missile, USV tests

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday congratulated the Pakistan Navy on the successful test of the LY-80 (N) surface-to-air missile and a loitering munition, lauding the professionalism and dedication of the team involved in the preparation and execution of the tests.

The prime minister also commended the Pakistan Navy leadership, officers and personnel for conducting a successful and comprehensive naval exercise in the North Arabian Sea. He said the exercise demonstrated the Navy’s high state of readiness and operational capability.

Under the leadership of Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, the Pakistan Navy has emerged as a modern and highly professional force, the prime minister said. He added that the Navy is making Pakistan’s maritime borders increasingly impregnable through the effective use of modern technology and professional expertise.

Highlighting the importance of advanced defence capabilities, Prime Minister Sharif said the effective performance of the Pakistan Navy’s modern air defence systems, surface-to-air attack capabilities and automated systems plays a key role in ensuring the country’s overall security.

He termed the successful test of an Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) in the open sea as a significant milestone, stating that it would further strengthen the defence of Pakistan’s maritime borders. He expressed confidence that the Pakistan Navy would continue to uphold its tradition of excellence and remain fully prepared to safeguard the country’s maritime interests.
