Continuous heavy rains and landslides have flooded large scale villages in Chittagong, Bangladesh resultantly 450,000 people have been stranded.
A flood situation has worsened in Satkania, Lohagara, Chandanaish, and Banshkhali upazilas of Chittagong.
The homes, croplands, fish pens, educational institutions, and important roads have been submerged in water and residents of these areas were waiting for food and relieif activities.
Household furniture, paddy, and livestock food have been washed away. Power and communication have been cut off, creating a humanitarian crisis in many areas.
According to the district administration, at least 450,000 people in Chittagong district have been stranded in water due to the severe landslides and flooding. Thirty-five people have died so far in landslides and floods. 629 shelters have been opened for the victims.
According to district administration sources, 200 metric tons of rice and 1 million taka have already been allocated from the Bangladesh Ministry of Relief and Disaster Management. In addition, another 2 million taka has been received from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's special fund.
