Education Authority Lahore has called for immediate construction and repair of 135 government schools in the provincial capital, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Education, construction and repair work on the school buildings could not be completed during the last fiscal year. The project to repair buildings in dilapidated state faced delays due to a change in policy.
Moreover, many incidents of roof collapses of such buildings had occurred in the past as well.
However, Strategic Management Unit has completed a fresh survey of shabby school buildings.
Most of the repair work on the buildings will be completed during the summer holidays, the CEO Education added.
According to Education Authority Lahore, the work is proceeding simultaneously on all such buildings covering new classrooms, and boundary walls. Construction work has been accelerated to ensure the safety of students in schools as monsoon season has set in, he added.
