PSX jumps 982 points as investors shrugged off regional escalation

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) jumped 982 points on Friday as investors shrugged off regional escalation and responded positively to record remittance inflows, lower weekly inflation and renewed trade engagement with the United States, helping the benchmark index recover from recent volatility.

At the end of the trading session, PSX 100-Index rises by 982 points and settled at the level of 182,241. Overall trading took place in the shares of 564 companies overall. The shares of 292 companies saw gains, while shares of 169 companies declined. Over 940 million shares worth more than Rs38 billion were traded. 

Earlier, PSX opened on a positive note, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index gaining more than 1,700 points in the opening minutes of trading. The rally strengthened as the session progressed, pushing the index to an intraday high of 183,477.57, up 2,217 points from the previous close. 

Buying was broad-based, with gains in automobile assemblers, cement, commercial banks, fertiliser, oil and gas exploration companies, oil marketing companies and power generation.
