India has nominated Dr Satyanjal Pandey, currently serving as Deputy High Commissioner in Sri Lanka, as its new Chargé d’Affaires in Pakistan, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
According to diplomatic sources, Pakistan has accepted the nomination, paving the way for the diplomat to assume his new responsibilities in Islamabad.
As per the sources, Dr Pandey is expected to arrive in Pakistan within the next few weeks.
The appointment comes as the tenure of the current Indian Chargé d’Affaires, Geetika Srivastava, has come to an end.
Diplomatic sources indicated that she has remained in Islamabad for several months beyond her original term of assignment.
Diplomatic sources further said that Geetika Srivastava is expected to leave Pakistan shortly following the completion of her diplomatic duties.
