Pakistani actor Sohail Sameer has shared his thoughts on marriage, joint family systems and the responsibilities that come with welcoming a new bride into the family.
Speaking candidly, Sohail said that there is a common perception that some brides enter their new homes wanting greater control over household decisions.
According to him, this belief often fuels misunderstandings between daughters-in-law and in-laws from the very beginning.
Sohail also highlighted what he believes is a growing trend in society, where many girls are advised before marriage to avoid living in joint family systems.
He explained that families often encourage their daughters to seek independent living arrangements in order to avoid potential conflicts or pressure from mothers-in-law.
Reflecting on this mindset, the actor pointed out that mothers-in-law are women too and that understanding and empathy should exist on both sides of the relationship.
Sohail's also focused on the sacrifices made by women after marriage.
He mentioned that a bride leaves behind her home, family and familiar surroundings to begin a completely new chapter of life.
According to the actor, this transition represents one of the biggest sacrifices a woman can make.
Sohail further stated that because a father entrusts his daughter to another family, the groom's family has a responsibility to value and respect her.
“I believe a father is giving away his most precious possession, his daughter,” he said.
