The second phase of the anti-polio campaign in Karachi will be conducted from March 10 to 16, targeting high-risk areas amid growing concerns over the presence of the polio virus in environmental samples, the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) announced.

The campaign will cover 59 union councils of the city, with an aim to vaccinate around 5.6 lakh children using jet injectors for immunization. To ensure smooth execution, 11,000 frontline workers and supervisors will be deployed.

The urgency of the drive has intensified following the confirmation of another polio case in Sindh, raising the province's tally to four cases this year. The latest case, reported from Thatta district, was the sixth in Pakistan in 2025.

Authorities emphasize that polio virus has been detected in Karachi’s environmental samples, making this campaign crucial in the fight against the disease. Health officials urge parents to ensure their children receive the polio drops to prevent further spread of the virus.
