The update primarily impacts channels, where reactions can be more frequent due to higher interaction volumes. However, the app also brings small improvements to the emoji reactions in chats and groups, offering a cleaner, more streamlined interface.
The design differs across channels, chats, and groups to reflect the distinct ways reactions are used. In channels, a new grid layout is employed to display reactions, while chats and groups continue to use a vertical list format. The updated tabs feature a modern and improved design.
Currently, the enhanced emoji reactions sheet is available to a select group of beta testers who have updated to the WhatsApp beta for Android. A broader rollout is expected in the near future.
