The Punjab government has issued a new advisory aimed at conserving fuel and energy in view of the prevailing regional situation, urging businesses and offices to adopt measures to reduce consumption.

According to a notification issued by Punjab Labour Secretary Danish Afzal, businesses have been advised to allow the maximum number of employees to work from home in order to save fuel and reduce transportation needs.

The advisory also instructs organizations to call only essential staff to offices, while non-essential employees should perform their duties remotely wherever possible. Offices have been directed to exercise caution in the use of electricity and energy.

Authorities have advised limiting the use of air conditioners and other electrical appliances to reduce power consumption. Organizations have also been asked to minimize the use of transport and avoid unnecessary travel.

Officials said the measures are part of the provincial government’s fuel-saving policy introduced in response to the current regional situation. However, the advisory will not apply to factories, which will continue operations as usual.

The government has urged businesses and institutions to cooperate with the guidelines to help conserve fuel and energy resources.
