ECP releases priority list of technocrats in GB Assembly Elections 2026

Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has released priority list for technocrat seats in Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Elections 2026. 

According to details, out of 27 nomination papers, only 19 candidates’ papers were approved for technocrats which include 4 candidates from Muslim League, 3 candidates from PPP, 1 from Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, 1 from Gilgit-Baltistan Democratic Party, 5 from Islamic Movement and 1 from Pakistan Muslim League. The nomination papers of 3 candidates from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam 1 and Utsaqat Pakistan Party were accepted by the ECP.  The papers of all 4 PML-N candidates Sahib Khan, Aurangzeb Khan Advocate, Atta-ur-Rehman Advocate and Sultan Muhammad Advocate were declared valid. 

The nominations of Syed Akbar Shah, Sherzad and Ahmed Hussain Turabi were rejected. The nominations of three Istikham-e-Pakistan Party candidates Muhammad Ali, Maulana Fazl Rahim and Hazrat Khan were accepted. The nominations of Majlis-e-Wahdat Muslimeen candidate Muhammad Saeed were also approved. Gilgit-Baltistan Democratic Party's candidate Qaim Ali Shah's papers were accepted. Pakistan Muslim League's Ghazanfar Akram Khan's papers were also approved. The papers of PML’s Muhammad Sharif and Imran Shah were rejected. JI's Muhammad Dildar's papers were approved while the papers of JI's Bashir Ahmed and Ijlal Hussain's papers rejected. The final lists were displayed after scrutiny of papers.
